Report a missing product

If a barcode isn't in Ingredo.app yet, you can add it from the app. Reporting means photographing the ingredient list: one clear photo, with the whole list in frame. The photo is what the report is — there is nothing to submit without it.

Scan the barcode, tap "Report this product", take one photo of the full ingredient list, and submit. Every line has to be readable, so it's worth taking it in good light with the text in focus. There's no form to fill in on this site — reporting happens in the app itself.

The same flow covers a second case: a product that is already in our catalogue but has no ingredient list. There the photo doesn't create a new entry, it fills in the one that exists, keeping the product's name, source and attribution as they are.

What happens to your photo

An automated vision step reads the photo after you submit — it runs in the background, not while you wait, so the app tells you when the product is ready. If the text can't be read clearly the report creates nothing at all and you're invited to retake it, rather than a half-read ingredient list being published.

That step only transcribes text. It never decides allergen or dietary-safety facts on its own — those come from our source-cited ingredient reference, applied to the transcribed text exactly as they are to a catalogued product. An entry created this way is marked as crowdsourced and is always superseded once official Open Food Facts / Open Beauty Facts data for that barcode arrives.

Photos are read only by that offline job. They are never used to answer a scan.

Reporting something that's wrong

Different button, different flow: if a product is in the catalogue but its information is wrong, use "Report incorrect info" on the product itself and describe the problem. That one takes a note, not a photo. Anything touching allergens or dietary safety is always routed to a human rather than corrected automatically.
